Right off the assembly line
I have a Intel P4 @ 1.7 GHz based computer system with 512 MB SDRAM/ Intel 845 Chipset Motherboard. Windows Xp Professional is the OS being used. One day the computer system poped the following problem.

"The CPU was shutdown due to a thermal event (overheating). Please
service the unit right away to resolve this. CMOS/GPNV checksum Bad."

What could be the problem. The computer did not bootup since then.

Is the problem with CPU or Motherboard or HDD?

Pl. help

can u boot from the cd
try installin a fresh OS if u can

if prob persist get it checked by a serviceman

( personally i feel there has been some virus like activity which used large amount of the proc work, and made it overheat
so formattin & reinstallin it might settle the issue )
