to prepare thesis for Phd...simple games ,entertainment

3rd gen i5 - no graphic card except integrated Intel HD 4000 - so probably you can play some non-graphic intensive games, at best. If gaming is not a priority at all, it's good.

This is much better for gaming than the Dell one though - 7670M is more than enough since you need it for just moderate gaming (and obviously entertainment purposes).
