I know the hardware bit. I was more interested in the software bit.
Is android L the only advantage?

I don't think software bit will make a difference because custom roms FTW!
CM11/PA4.x should be available for ZR if not other roms from XDA would be ok.

I mainly use the phone for WhatsApp, Calling, surfing, hardcore music listening and hardcore movie watching.
I guess I should stick to ZR.

CM11/PA4.x should be available for ZR if not other roms from XDA would be ok.

BTW, you missed an advantage of Moto G over ZR which is dual SIM.....

Custom ROMs are better for Xperia devices, i guess, as you have nothing to lose in terms of software features. I don't know if custom ROMs will provide same battery life

Dual Sim is useless for both me and my dad.
Custom roms make me lose Bravia Mobile Engine 2 and Stamina mode(The reason why ZR's battery life is so good).

Xperia ZR is better due to better chipset and hardware.

Ya those are some points to consider before installing custom ROM. Acc. to recent reports Z3's camera performance degrades after bootloader unlock. If same is the case with Z3C, then i might end up buying Alpha after an year(waiting for price drop till 25k)
