Hi, Please suggest a PC config. It's for my cousin.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Photo Editing (Adobe Photoshop), Browsing, Movies and occasional Work-related softwares. No gaming.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.

Ans: 50k

3. Planning to overclock?

Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Ans: Windows 10

5. How much hard drive space is needed?

Ans: 1TB + 250 gigs SSD

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: No. He has a 24" FullHD Benq Monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?

Ans: Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, wifi adapter.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans: Within this month.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?

Ans: No. I will assemble it.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Ans: Bangalore. Looking at getting it from SP road.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

Ans:

a) Cousin wants 16gigs of RAM. Is it possible squeeze this into the current budget?

b) Legit Windows 10 license included in the 50k budget. Is it possible to transfer the win10 license from his old laptop to the desktop?

c) Is a dedicated Graphics card useful in Photoshop?

d) I'm told Adobe softwares don't always play nice with AMD. Does this have merit?

Thanks

a) I don't see the point of having 16 gigs for this use case.
b) Yes, you can transfer the license to the desktop. (Guys, correct me if I am wrong)
c) In most cases, NO. Very few tools in PS find dGPU useful.
d) Meaning, Intel performs better than AMD wrt. Adobe software. How much better depends on application and use case. For image editing in Photoshop, I wouldn't bother much. AMD/Intel are about same here.

AMD ~ 49k
Ryzen 2600
Asrock B450 Pro4
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 3000mhz
Corsair CX450
Corsair Spec 1
GT 1030 2GB GDDR5
WD Blue 7200rpm 1TB
Samsung 860 EVO 250GB

Intel ~ 45k
i5 8400
Asus B360 Prime Plus
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR4 3000mhz
Corsair CX450
Corsair Spec 1
WD Blue 7200rpm 1TB
Samsung 860 EVO 250GB

Let me guess it is win 10 home in which case I suggest avoiding it anyway unless you want to get hit by an automatic update reboot in the middle of your work. You can get win 10 pro for free using "a MS allowed loophole". Check your PM.

Thanks. I would prefer iGPU ,will the Ryzen 2400g will be massive downgrade over 2600 ? Also isn't ryzen processors performance impacted substantially from RAM speeds?

Yes, it's significant enough.
i5 8400 is up to 25% better than Ryzen 2400G
Ryzen 2600 is up to 45% better than Ryzen 2400G

2400G is not a good option for such a system, pick 1 of the 2 configs suggested earlier. For getting 2400G you will be sacrificing a lot of processor power(more important for your usage) in exchange for better integrated graphics(not much usage for you considering little/no gaming).
