1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Gaming and little video editing.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 60k, can be 74.5k.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: If needed, yes.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 probably or maybe windows 10 once its out.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB, more or less not needed.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes, I want a monitor. Size? Well, i am not exactly sure but 21.5-23 inch will probably do. I don't want big ones or small ones. Res? I want 1080p. Thought about 4k but its not in my budget.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: No such components.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within next 2 weeks.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Haven't built one before but i am sure i can. Not that hard, plus there are helping guides and videos out there. I can do it.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi. Locally/Online? Well, whichever gives me more profit in price and also have good service.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Yep.

My purpose is to create a pc mostly for gaming and little bit of video editing+rendering(I am gonna be making gameplay videos). Still i would want at least 60fps on bf4 with ultra settings at 1080p.

I have thought about->
GPU -> Gtx 970. If it isn't enough for 60fps on bf4 with ultra settings at 1080p, you can suggest some SLI ones.
Motherboard-> I am thinking about Msi Z97 Gaming 5. Its audio quality looks good and have some good features. Is it good?
Processor-> i3 4690 or 4690k(Depending whether i need to overclock or not).

If i get gtx 970, is it worth overclocking considering its new performance for latest games? I am planning to keep this pc for next 3-4 years with as much as low upgrades from time to time.

i5 4690 -14k (?)
Asus B85M - 6k
HyperXFury 8GB - 5.2k(saw somewhere)
Corsair 300R - 4.5k
Seasonic S12II 520W - 5k
WD Blue 1TB - 3.8k
GTX 970 - 27k
AOC i2369VM - 10k

GTX970 is a very good GPU, it can give 60fps @1080p
Add a sound card like ASUS Xonar, dont go for inbuilt ones, you'll end up spending too much money on it. Also Z97 is unecessary. You can look at H97 if you want.

Since i am gonna be editing videos as well, i have heard that overclocking really helps in rendering speed. Is it worth it?

Also, Is Asus B85 "future-proof"? I might do some upgrading in future depending on future games requirements.

I also have a 720p working samsung monitor, if i use new monitor and this one together can gtx 970 support it with 60fps on bf4 at ultra settings?

+1 for this. A few things -

> Get Zotac GTX 970. It has 5 years warranty.

> WD Blue 1 TB is available for 3.6k.

> Get two 4 GB RAM instead on single 8 GB RAM for running them in dual channel mode.

you said youself that you are going to need this PC for 'littke bit of rendering'. So it doesnt make sense spending 6-7k extra on overclocking.

What upgrades do you mean? SSD? SLI? HDD?

Yep.

Hi SpeciallyMadePotatoCurry,

Also, Is Asus B85 "future-proof"? I might do some upgrading in future depending on future games requirements.

As per your requirement, I’d suggest you to go with the MSI Z97 MOBO. Its support the SLI and CrossFire technology that means in the future, you can add-on a second GPU card for performance, instead of buying a new MOBO or replacing a totally new GPU. The latest version of MOBO will help you for future proof rig.

Yes, you are right. The OC was able to increase the ability for video editing, but need to see the software used. Examples: Vegas, Adobe premiere, Powerdirector and etc. Every software has a different acceleration, there is a CPU and GPU are some even do both.

I5 4690k

MSI Z97-Gaming

WD Black or SSD with WD Blue for performance purposes.

Good luck.

GTX 970 ZOTAC - 26K
TOTAL 73700

Now if you want to include the monitor also then remove gtx 970 and buy gtx 960 and get 1080p monitor. you will have no problem at 1080p with gtx 960

to everyone suggestung overclockable rigs, OP need it just for video rendering that too sometimes only. No sense in spending 5-6k extra in overclockability.
