Hello Guys,

I am building a new PC and I need some help in choosing parts. My budget is around 1-1.2 lac INR. Here are some of the parts I am picking just need help with choosing the final one.

CPU : (Debating over Ryzen 7 3700x and Ryzen 9 3900x, but personally I want the 12 cores)

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X

Board : (Here’s where I am confused. )

B450

B550

X570

Please let me know which one should I go with. I am not planning on upgrading any time soon

GPU : (Again confused)

RTX 2060 Super

RTX 2070

There is a price difference but I don’t think the performance difference is justifying the price. Please suggest.

Lastly, Should I go for Liquid cooling? I wanted to buy the Deepcool castle 360, but AMD comes with the stock cooler. I honestly want liquid cooling just for the aesthetics.

For the RAM, SSD, PSU, and Cabinet I am not that confused. here is the list. However, suggestions welcomed

RAM: XPG ADATA SPECTRIX D60G 16 GB 3000MHZ

SSD: XPG S40G 512GB RGB 3D NAND PCIe Gen3x4 NVMe

PSU: CORSAIR CX600

Cabinet: Ant Esports ICE-511MT

Hello I am planning on upgrading my PC. I have a budget of around 1.2 lakh at max.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: Video Editing, Animation, Motion Design, Graphics Designing and gaming. Softwares : After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blender, Premier Pro Also high end games.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: 1 lakh - 1.2 lakh

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Probably. Not sure though.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 10

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB M2 SSD ( I already have a sata SSD and a HDD)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: NO I have 22" 1920x1080 Led

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I have PSU and a HDD

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within a month ( Incase graphics card become cheaper)

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai. I would buy locally and if not available locally then I can look to buy from online

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:

Here is a old post of mine where I've decided some of the parts already. I would love to use the ryzen 9 3900x in my build

Thankyou for the suggestion
-I don't need a UPS and also a PSU so I could maybe use that money to buy 2060 super instead of 1660 super
-I was wondering if 3600mhz is worth or should I stick to 3200mhz
-For cpu cooler do you think Deepcool's castle 360 would be a better choice? Or should I stick with the stock cooler and just save the money there.

Now because of mining craze GPUs prices have skyrocketed and for the present 2060 price normally you will get 2070 super. So take the 1660 super for now since the extra RTX cores are not needed for your kind of work other than gaming. Link: INNO3D GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER TWIN X2 6GB GDDR6
G.Skill SniperX 16GB (8GB x2) 3600Mhz Kit is cheaper than 3200Mhz RGB kits. So go with 3600Mhz Link: Buy Online G.SKILL Sniper X 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3600 Desktop Memory F4-3600C19D-16GSXKB - in India
If you want to save cash the you can go with ARCTIC Freezer 34 Esports Duo CPU Cooler @ 4.4k Link: *www.amazon.in/ARCTIC-Freezer-Espor...8098S37GK95&psc=1&refRID=AGRK27RAE8098S37GK95

Fill the questionnaire, especially mention your usage with priority properly, then maybe tag me here for a config.

Currently, GPU prices are bad, like really bad. Even 1660S is like 27k these days instead of 19-20k, not to forget RTX 30xx GPUs are still very scarce & overpriced.

Personally, I see no reason to go X570 over B550, a 15k B550 should suffice.

Liquid cooling AIOs are mainly for aesthetics, surely expensive. Something like Lian Li Galahad is great but I'd say do that upgrade later & instead get meaningful parts now with your budget.

Get 3600MHz RAM, not that expensive over 3000MHz. I don't think you will be tuning it, except for XMP (that's why questionnaire exists, to know your req).

PSU - Antec HCG Gold 750W - 7.6k
SSD - Kingston A2000 is a good value

Cabinet - It seems like a decent budget cabinet with meshed front & 4 pre-installed fans, can get better ones like Lian Li 215 or Deepcool Mattrexx 55 Mesh

Saw the questionnaire now after threads were merged.

As said earlier, GPU prices are just bad right now.

AMD Rig:
CPU - AMD R9 3900X - 41k (it has Wraith Prism cooler, XT variant doesn't)

Mobo - MSI B550 Gaming Plus - 15k

RAM - 2x16GB DDR4 3600MHz - 13.5k

GPU - GTX 1660S - 27k

M.2 SSD - Kingston A2000/WD SN550 1TB - 9.5k

HDD - Yours

PSU - Old CX600 should be fine

Cabinet - Lian Li 215 or other mid tower ATX - 6.4k (can vary)

Monitor - Yours

Total - 112.4k

Optional - Cooler - CM Hyper 212 Black RGB - 4.2k

So, in case you want to wait for a good GPU for gaming, get this now & add a good GPU later. CPU is surely a bit weaker than R9 3900X for productivity but better for gaming.

Intel rig:
CPU - Intel i9 10850K - 36.6k

CPU Cooler - Deepcool Gamerstorm Assassin III - 7.8k (can handle OC)

Mobo - MSI Z490 A Pro - 15.5k

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz - 6.5k

GPU - Later, system will boot because that CPU has an iGPU (maybe RTX 3060 for 35k?)

M.2 SSD - Kingston A2000/WD SN550 1TB - 9.5k

HDD - Yours

PSU - Antec HCG Gold 750W - 7.6k

Cabinet - Lian Li 215 or other mid tower ATX - 6.4k (can vary)

Monitor - Yours

Total - 89.9k + 35k GPU later

BTW, you can maybe opt for 2x16GB RAM, will cost 13-14k, will be useful if you feel you will ever need 64GB RAM in future. Mismatching RAM sizes takes a small hit on performance.

 ! I am completely out of the loop since past few weeks. Why the prices raised so high for old gen?

Recently it rose because of crypto miners, again. The usual part scarcity for new GPUs still exist but something like RTX 3060Ti seems to start at 50k now instead of 40k earlier.

CPU shortage for Ryzen 5000 seems to be sorted out. R5 5600X available for 26.5-27k at many places. But Ryzen 5000 is expensive in general & they are yet to release more budget parts like R5 5600 & R7 5700X. Maybe they are waiting for Intel's 11th gen for new parts & price cuts.

Building a new gaming rig is a bad idea today after seeing the GPU prices. Nvidia and AMD have acknowledged that the GPU shortage will not go away soon.

I too wanted a new gaming rig in similar budget but now am settling for second hand rig with RX 580 GPU and Intel Core i7 6xxx series processor. Will upgrade once the GPU prices are little sane. Just sharing my thought.

If you are getting a used RX580 at a decent price, say ~7-8k, you can buy rest of the parts new, as other parts are decently priced & in stock. Maybe after 6 months, you can just upgrade the GPU for a better gaming exp.

Yeah..doing exactly that. The processor I got is i7 3930k. Planning to sell it and get R3 3100/B550 Mobo based system. Will upgrade to R5 5600X and decent RX6xxx/RTX 3xxx GPU once the prices settle to an acceptable price.
