Non gaming performance laptop

I am looking for a laptop for coding and office use. I will use eclipse like s/w. I prefer raw power over ULV processors.



I want to ask, will the core i5 provide advantage over pentium dual core? Both 3rd gen considered

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?

Mainstream; 13" - 15" screen


3) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

surfing net, watching movies, coding, eclipse

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?

No

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
No preference

6) Anything else you would like to say?
Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) ) : 768p
Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) ) : normal
Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad

ULVs are designed to consume less power. They mostly bottleneck in games.



M and MQ processors are designed for performance (as per my knowledge ). They surely give a performance benefit over their ulv counterparts.



i5-4200M > i5 4200U



For normal Ms office type of use Pentium is ok.

For performance and future proofing I would suggest to go with i5

If you don't mind 14" check out HP ProBook 440 G1

It has a 4th gen i5-4200M processor

Call them on the number on top of the page and try and get a discount and also try to get 3 years onsite service discount offered for some laptops.

You can also go for Inspiron 14R or 15R. Check *dell.co.in website, they have several configurations within your budget.

While Dell has the best service, I've had great experiences with HP service as well. And I've read far too many stories about Lenovo service to never consider them.
