Need to upgrade the graphics card

I'm posting on behalf of my friend.

He wants to upgrade his graphics card so that he can play games like maxpayne 3....etc in their max settings.
Right now, his system configuration is as follows

amd athlon x2 2.99ghz
asus m2n68am plus motherboard
2gb ddr2 ram
Nvidia Geforce 9500 (1gb ddr2)[/B]
500gb hdd
