Need PC cofiguration for NAS Desktop Configuration

Hello,

I need a desktop configuration for a powerful NAS desktop box, preferably with the following requirements:

1. 16 GB RAM
2. 64-bit Processor with high cache.
3. 1 SSD (160 GB)
4. 2 x 1 TB HDD ( NAS compatible, i think enterprise versions)
5. No idea about motherboard.

Please share your views about this as I need this to be implemented asap. Thanks.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: I'll be running software NAS on it. Specifically, Nexenta OS on SSD and 2 x 1TB HDD in RAID 1

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: I'll be renting it so NA.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Nope.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Nexenta OS (Solaris based)

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 160 GB SSD + 2x 1TB HDD

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: NA

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Just a simple desktop, high performance based.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: ASAP

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Renting it. So not required.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Only to the questions by admins or questions raised here.

btw, the number of threads is 4 for the CPU mentioned.... is that okay... or can I get more than that in any other processor ???

does the software you use need so much cpu horse power? i dont think so. i am not sure though.
another option is xeon e3 1245v3 which has 8 threads(4 cores).

You don't need an i5 for NAS. Even a Celeron can do the job. G3220 will be more than enough.
