i need a laptop preferrably with around 50-60k normally for programming and ebook reading and for some normal official works.

but if it support graphics programs like photoshop would be better.

esp i need longer batter backups...esp if possible more than 5-6 hours with the single recharge.....

so which config, brand will be best for it...available here....

is there any way to keep spare battery backup for laptops...

thanks

There is no laptop with 5-6 hours usage. You may get maximum 4 hours in safe mode.

well it is always not good to directly jump into conclusion acting smart
here is just one example from the million such news
*www.newtechnology.co.in/hp-elitebook-6930p-sets-24-hours-battery-backup-life-record/

well this seem to be notebook pc
well i didnt found the actual news online but i am sure there was a news that dell has just launched laptop with 19 hours backup...

more over i myself have seen laptop which can go up to 7-8 hours with the single recharge..

u can say..it is not available in india..or say it may not be that budget efficient but saying "no laptop with 5-6 hours usage" can mislead people.

any way thanks.

old T43 that I had used to give 5-6 hours charge. 4hrs in safe mode?? what does that mean??

@@saharika, go for hp dv5 series or dell studio series and opt for 9cell battery.

Also, check for hybrid graphics so that you can switch to power efficient onboard graphics (instead of dedicated graphics) and save power while on battery.

Hi Saharika! How're you?

Well according to you need....which is very much the best of everything....I can suggest you a few things...
First of them would be a NETbook....these are tiny laptops and according to their name they're basically made for surfing the internet. Typical netbooks have no optical drive, an intel atom processor 1.6ghz, 1 gig memory and a 160gb hdd, wifi and a 8.9" or 10.1" screen. This can solve your following purposes:
Office work
Ms office, word, spreadsheets, etc etc etc
Emailing and communications(as it has webcam)
and last but not the least.....entertainment on the go

Given all that...The battery backup is very very high as compared to the normal notebooks.... A netbook with a 6 cell battery would last around 4.5 hours with full fledged usage...this would include wifi on, full brightness and the sound on....
if you just work on it, say, like ms office or email...it would last a good 5.5 hours....and if ya use it very decently, without stressing on any of it's multimedia features then you can hope to squeeze around 6-6.5 hours...
all said, this would run your photoshop with a few headbanging moments.... so, it's not for photoshopping..
but hey, these things cost so less then the mainstream laptops that it makes you want to have one as a spare...
I am saying all this by experience of of 2 days and a research on internet since 2 months..

I just bought an Asus EeePC 1000H on saturday...
It's got Atom 1.6ghz proccy
1gb ram
160 sata
10.11inch LED display (resolution 1024*600)
1.3mp webcam
wifi b/g/n (This 'n' thing is future I tell you)
a keyboard which is 92% in size of a standard laptop keyboard......
3 usb ports...one vga port to hook up an extra monitor....
4cell li-polymer battery...it gives around 4 hours backup in moderate usage
The earlier model used to come with a 6 cell battery which provided 7 hours backup....but unluckily it's discontinued....but hey, 4 hours isn't a bad deal at all
now this thing is loaded up to the brim...and not to mention it comes in a sexy piano black finish with some chrome touchups all over.....making it a very very desirable thang
and it weighs only 1.4 KGs...beat that

I got this baby for Rs.21000

Pretty much everything...but still not an ideal photoshop machine...

now for your photoshop you can buy another lappy in with of a centrino2 platform which would give you a battery backup of 3 hours max....

======================
======================

The main thing is that you can't get a laptop which would run photoshop, give you battery backup of 6-7 hours and cost under 70k...... you need to up the budget and go for a Dell or a Sony Vaio...

Now considering the fact that you're not an Apple hater like me, I have a perfect solution for you....
The Macbook...
13" wide
core 2 duo
OS X
three models available.... the one which seems fot for your requirement and budget is the the one with 2.1ghz core2dup processor
the main specs are:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.1ghz
2GB DDR3 Memory
160GB hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
graphics
Rs.72,910
*www.apple.co.in/store/flash/macbook/macbook.html
Now you can expect to get this notebook after discount for rs. 65000 I guess....coz generally they have a darn big margin on Apple notebooks....

so, here you go.....may you find the best one for yourself.

- Deepak.

P.S.- This whole post is written on tiny eeepc's keyboard.....only a few typos

I won't consider netbook as a PC at all :)

macbook is a good option too if you are ready to pay a premium. But performance wise, it's no match for dv5. macbook pro is in high end league of laptops but it costs 1.5L

Also check imac(desktop). there is 8k off on 24" imac (available for 65k).

@saharika.

First of all I want to make it clear that I didn't intend to be smart. Secondly there may be such laptops that offer 19 hours or even for that matter 5-6 hours may be available, but as far as my knowledge goes, I have not known about them. If there exist such laptops, I would also be interested in knowing about it.

Ig you felt offended, I am sorry.

Hi Saharika! How're you?

First of them would be a NETbook....
well i need laptop and i know about net book...i was looking for small tradeoff between battery life and features...but i cannot go down to netbook...i can see after some years mobile will start having all those features...(or are there..? means iphone..)

Given all that...The battery backup is very very high as compared to the normal notebooks.... A netbook with a 6 cell battery would last around 4.5 hours with full fledged usage....
well as i have already said and given a link as well, for right amount netbook backup can go to 24 hours....i have not used it personally but not many sites only....i have seen big newspaper having comprehensive article on it...so it cannot be "just for kidding"
