hi people.
after connecting my lan, i get a icon with a ! sign on the 2 moniters on my system tray. If i hover my mouse around it , it says "Limited or no connectivity".
Whats the problem..if i click "repair my ip add" , it fails.what should i do?

its not a problem it just because u have only one pc and your lan didn.t find a proper networkin with any other pc
just go to the properties by right clicking on ur lan connection and untick the option notify when system has limited or no connectivity

prob is due to improper assign of IP address.
it may be the case that you have assigned ip to both the PC but subnet may be different so leading to differnt netwoks and thats u got such message
coz hub or a simple switch can't route packets to PCs in diffrent n/w that's why limited connectivity.

Try using IP in the range of subnet that other PC belongs to ur prob will be solved

if u r not in a Network, then simply Disable the LAN Connection from Network connection properties...

Note : if u r using a Broadband ADSL ISP LAN interface, then refer to the ISP documentation for correct IP address details..

Normally it may look like this,

IP Address : 192.168.1.xx (any number except 0 and 1)
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Getway : 192.168.1.1

Prefered DNS : Refer to ISP, Ex. in case of DataOne 61.0.0.5
Alternet DNS : Refer to ISP, Ex. in case of DataOne 61.1.96.71
