Laptop under Rs.1 Lac

Let's get on with the questionnaire first.


1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
Approx Rs. 1 Lac

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?

Between 13"-15"


3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
1.) Portability is the main concern here, Need a thin Laptop/Ultrabook and weight needs to be under/atmost 2 Kgs.
2.) Running multiple Instances of MSSQL Server Developer Edition (2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012)
3.) Running Oracle 10g
4.) Programming in Linux
5.) Running Linux (as a 2nd OS)


5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
1.) SSD+HDD (min.128GB+500GB) or atleast a faster RPM HDD (750GB/1TB)
2.) min.8 GB DDR3 RAM (considering the budget that I have already mentioned, else it would be salt to injury..lol)
3.) an onboard-inbuilt Intel Iris 5xxx Graphics will also do if a Dedicated GPU is out of the question for a Slim fit Laptop/Ultrabook
4.) USB Ports are a must (we all know it and need it)..lol
5.) Core i7 "atleast"

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
If i get a Slim fit laptop/Ultrabook, i wouldn't care for the brand, As every brand has it's own Pros and Cons.


6) Anything else you would like to say?

• Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) ): Full HD
• Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) ): atmost 6+ hours
• Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad (do mention the country) ): Abroad (USA/ Australia) will do, (I know "International Warranty" stuff is a big question mark, but I can gamble If i can get a good configuration at a competitive Price)

I get the name, but what is the suffix at the End of each Laptop model i.e. msi gs60 ghostpro052/044 etc...

I know, warranty will NOT be covered,so it is a Risk and Sager looks damn fat

What say.?

MSi and Clevo/Sager (from USA) is out of question now as my friend is already burdened with a lot of Gadgets and Stuff..

But, I wanted to know how is this laptop --> Gigabyte P35W v3

My 2nd friend will be coming to India from Australia (In 1st week of Dec, 2014) and he showed me this Lappy.

I feel this is a good option, but still need your views to have a firm decision. I am willing to increase the budget but Still...Please do post your comments.

If you can go for its upgrade then go for it. GTX 980m is extremely worth it and future proof too.

Still, Seamon plz do lemme knw just "how much" of a difference it is b/w 970M and 980M ?

I mean like if you say "future proof" then is it "that much" of a difference ? or just a minute one?

I just found this comparison

Shud i just go with those number comparisons or is it really some "meat into it" to consider spending that much?

Check notebook check net for benchmarks. You'll need the extra juice for big games like Witcher 3 next year.
