Laptop to run Maya 3D

Hi Guys

One of my friend wants a laptop to run Maya 3D animation software.

His budget is 30- 40k.

- Monitor: Better if it supports wide-screen, since it is used for animation
- No preference on Brand
- Long battery life as animation program has to run overnight and if the power goes out the battery has to withstand during the outage period
- Also better heat dissipation
- Plus quick video rendering

Please suggest a suitable laptop for the purpose.

I guess budget can be stretched a bit till 50...

@Amrit: Thanks

Friends..Since he is in a remote town, I need to buy for him from Bangalore (except Dell which he can order online.)

I want to give a shortlist of 3 and let him decide. I do not want to force any model on him....After all its his money :stirpot:

I came up with a short:shock:list ():

1. New Dell XPS 15: i3 + GT 420M --> Rs. 46800
2. Acer 5742G or 5845G --> 40/43 k (I checked the 5742G - not very happy with the Display quality and speakers sound quality)
3. Asus K42JA-VX032D/ K42JA-VX048D --> HD 5730 2GB, Basic difference is i5/i3, 640 GB/ 500 GB HDD -- no idea where to see them
4. Sony EB36 - HD 5650, Full HD --> the priciest of them all but good build and siaplay + audio quality -- heard negative reviews on battery and heating
5. MSI GX640 --> The only laptop with a high end Graphics card in this range, 49k according to one site..Not sure if available at all, if at that price --> Then a definite buy.
6. MSI GE600 --> With HD 5730 - Not sure if this also is available and where can I see them.

The less pricier options include:

* New Inspiron 15R/14R (512 MB 550v card) & M501R (with AMD Triple core and 1 GB 550v)

Please help me narrow it down to 3. Pls provide ur suggestions...

@acewin: Thanks for the reply....

You mean the new XPS 15? or the old XPS Studio models? The New XPS series has been recently launched and not even display models available. I am not sure anybody has got one in hands yet?

Re., Asus...Any idea where I can see one of them in Bangalore? I wen to Croma and Staples...No Asus on display...
