No warranty,

Assuming they charge 120$ shipping and 1376$ is cost price (not final, can get student/military discounts, etc)

Total customs value (CIF): INR 92,961.44
This is the amount that customs values your import at
- Duty: INR 0.00
- Landing Charges: INR 929.61
- Countervailing Duty: INR 9,389.11
- CESS: INR 281.67
- Additional Countervailing Duty: INR 4,142.47
Total import duty & taxes due: INR 14,742.87
This is the amount that needs to be paid to customs
Total landed cost: INR 1,07,704.30
This is the total cost of importing, including product, shipping, insurance and import duty & taxes
at exchange rate of 100 INR = 1.61 USD

source: Import duty & taxes calculation result

(If a product is good enough, it won't require After Sales Service and warranty like in case of Clevo/Sager ;) )

Wow!!! So I can own that laptop for as much as low as 110k? Considering the specs :D

Yeah, and if you have someone coming from US, then you can ask them to carry it thus avoiding the shipping cost, import duty and customs too. And probably use that saved money for [strike] adding a 120 GB m.2 ssd,[/strike] (didn't check at first, SSD is included :hyper: ) increasing the ram to 16 GB and a gaming mouse.

I checked the specifications of Asus X550JK, it has DDR3 version of 850m

AVOID IT, TOTALLY NOT WORTH BUYING

*Insert backlash here* I would like to recommend Alienware 13........with utmost caution though. (Alienware 15 is still month or two away from official Indian launch). The concept of Graphic amplifier is intriguing and novel, I mean, if you can get your hands on 15+Amplifier, hypothetical it will be *the* best machine overall, both for portability and power. Ofcourse, MSI do have a similar solution, but it is more or less fishy in terms of actual bandwidth supplied to dock(16x electrical ? Seriously ? I mean haswell generation have 16 lanes in total for most of the models). Alienware 13 is fine for gaming if connected with dock, otherwise ULV processor creates a serious bottleneck.

Some technical stuff: Alienware Graphic Amplifier is connected via 4x PCIe 3.0 lane. MSI claims that their dock uses all 16 lanes....which is strange since wifi/M2 and sometimes even card readers use PCIe lanes.
Most of the Clevo(read, all), supply 8 lanes max for each, and in crossfire/sli setup, they require bridges.

Comparing i5 4210U and 860m to i7 4710m and 970m in a standalone laptop? Not to mention the added m.2 ssd in the latter. :|

I used word..."caution", also I did mention about Alienware 15(if thread opener wants to import). 15 does have Quad Core processor and 9xx series GPU.

There is no point in buying underpowered configs at that budget and Alienware 13 is overpriced a lot TBH. 70k would've been ok for it. And why should he import Alienware 15 when the Clevo P150SM-A has 970m at the price of Alienware 13?

Simply because Dell(Alienware) can transfer warranties between countries and has a better build.

Clevo's build quality is decent and comparable to Alienware.
Cheapest alienware with 970m from xotic pc costs ~1500$ and lacks the m.2 ssd and IC Diamond thermal paste included with the ~1380$ Clevo P15SM-A. :|

That will cost around 120k, 33% more than initial budget for the OP after importing taking 140$ as shipping and 0$ as insurance (source: Import duty & taxes calculation result)

Alienware in 8th position, 2 Clevo based models above it.

I wonder if warranty can be taken into account for a considerable investment. Clevo barebones are mass produced, and side by side comparison does reveal that Alienware is better. I do give them(Clevo) credit for lower cost, but it ends there. The rating is at 87%, and lower potion is due to the fact that they have not yet reviewed the new units. There is no "opportunity cost" involved here; if we consider that Alienware is second best alternative, then the added benefits of warranty negates the overhead(a 1500$ laptop is nothing if even a small thing like hinge is damaged). 15 does have M.2 slot for possible future upgrades. I wonder if Alienware used something like IC Diamond thermal paste on their old machines which are still running fine.

No company wants to add subpar parts at that price range, and everyone wants to market their products as best. These laptops are not Thinkpads of circa 1990s, they are destined to break at some point of time.

Alienware 15 has 'M' type M.2 slot so speeds will be much faster as it'll support PCIe M.2 SSDs. Not as fast as desktops but it'll support the full SATA bandwidth(750 MBps). In raid 0, the speeds will be tremendous. Just pointing out if anyone is interested.
