Hello friends. I am in merchant navy. Will be going onboard soon that's why price in dollars.
I want to upgrade my laptop and desktop both. But first laptop. Desktop will be upgraded after one year.

My requirements.

-Processor
Don't want i3. Should be atleast i5. I7 only if it comes in budget and makes a huge performance difference.

-harddisk
750gb is minimum requirement. If there is good laptop With lesser hard disk capacity the. Don't worry about that. I will get it upgraded when i buy the laptop

-RAM
Should be at least 8gb. Or i can upgrade to at least 8gb.

- screen size
U don't like bigger size like 17". 14-15" category is best.

-brands that i like
Last two laptops have been lenovo. So lenovo is my favorite brand. After that comes dell. Can consider others it the configuration is awesome.

What will i use it for?
Mostly normal stuff like movies and internet browsing. But i will also be starting to learn android development and do video editing for my YouTube channel in one or two months after buying it. So it will be used for developing and learning to develop android ROMs and apps. Will also be used for learning programming languages like java, php etc and editing my website. So it should be able to take care of all those stuff. Will upgrade my desktop for all those purposes but as long as i remain on ship i need my laptop be able to atleast do these jobs without lagging too much.

-My budget.
Its 1000$ but if you have some awesome suggestion for 1100-1200$ then i can go for that as well. But please try to stay in budget if 1100-1200$ laptop won't make much difference.

-some other stuff
Like i said i7 is good but its way too expensive when compared against i5 performance and price. So i will try to avoid it in my laptop. Will go for it in desktop.

Will be buying it in October so if you know about any good laptop coming out that time then do let me know as well.

Thank you for your time and suggestion. Have asked digit people plenty of times by emailing them but they never reply. I am sure i will receive better response here.

I don't think digit people will answer tech related queries! Do they?

In their magazine they answer and say that send us your query at so and so email id. U have asked so many times for suggestion before buying my previous laptop and mobiles. But they never reply. I guess my questions were not good enough to be published in the magazine so they ignored it.

I am assuming you can buy a laptop from USA.

Consider a custom laptop like this one:
XOTIC PC | Sager NP8268-S (Clevo P150SM-A) - 15.6" Gaming Notebook

Y50 is nowhere in comparison to this powerful behemoth. It's slightly bulkier but it' a very powerful machine.
It's a mini-desktop in itself meaning you can upgrade the CPU,GPU and virtually everything whenever you wish to.
The price can be lowered to almost 1200 by not opting for some of the unnecessary things like BD drive or branded RAM sticks etc.
Also it wins where Y50 is criticized the most, the screen.

There is no guarantee that i will be heading to USA but i checked the link. It is awesome specs for awesome price. Will try to get my hands on it through some of my friends whose ship is going to USA or if our Company agent cam get it for me or if i meet a ship which goes to US. In this way no need to pay for shipping or customs. It will travel by ships. :)

Will keep checking its reviews and some YouTube videos. Not concerned about warranty as i buy many stuff from outside India which doesn't have international warranty. Hardly ever had to claim it anyway.

Thanks for this awesome suggestion.
