kbdus.dll error in xp installation

greetings on my first posting
i have a P-4 1.8 GHZ system.
i have win 98 se on drive c and had win xp with SP 2 (pro) on drive d.
when xp crashed, i tried to reinstal from CD after reformatting drive d.
but i get an error "unable to load keyboard layout file kbdus.dll".
i m using the same system with the same system for the past two years and xp has been reinstalled earlier also. there was no such problem previously.
please tell me how to overcome this problem.
i referred to ms knowledgebase but learnt that the problem pertains to win 2000 mainly. i am not upgrading from that os and i am attempting a clean installation.

may be your installtion CD is corrupted.. try to install with a another XP installtion CD

Most probabily the CD has been corrupted!

U can do one thing!

D/l the same dll file from net and store it on some safe place on ur HDD, now install XP again and when the ERROR occurs then simply tell the setup the location of that DLL file (where u saved d/l ed dll file).

It may work!
