Hi..

I installed OpenSUSE 11 and the desktop effects are not working. Even if I click on enable, they are getting disabled when I hit close, without any message. When I tried to show the widget: 3d model earth, it said that openGL shaders are not supported on your card. I have Nvidia 8600GT. The card is shown as is in the properties. but do I have to install the drivers separately? I dont have internet at home. So, is there any way to install the drivers offline? I tried this once in 10.1 and failed to do so, after numerous attempts. Is there any easy way to install the drivers for my card?
The nvidia site says to recompile kernel and so.... Is it really needed to install the drivers? I did it in the past and got x server to disfunction earlier(in 10.1). Please suggest me a simple way to install the drivers offline in OpenSUSE 11.

Thanks in advance.

IMO, u need to download nVidia drivers... It's nvidia-glx-new in Ubuntu. Don't know about OpenSuSE. But you can wait till NucleusKore come here... :p
