Info about RAM and Graphics card

I have 256 mb DDR 400 RAM on my computer and was thinking of upgrading it to 1 gb.But I came to know that DDR 2 rams are much cheaper than DDR ones.So my question is whether I can dump my 256 mb RAM and use a fresh DDR2 1 gb RAM on my computer.Will my computer support it?I have Intel 915 chipset motherboard.It will be also be helpful if you can inform me about the current prices of 1 gb RAM of both DDR and DDR 2 variety.I live in Kolkata.Secondly,I will also be buying a graphics card,so please suggest me the best deal at about Rs 3000.

If i'm not wrong, your Motherboard will support DDR2 RAM. 1GB DDR2 RAM will cost you around Rs.2000-2200 depending upon Brands. But, preferably go for two dual 512 mb modules (Same).

i think u can get a 8400m gs in 3k.. also 915 supports ddr2 only... not ddr..

ya...it supports DDR2...get Transcend 1GB for 1750...for 3k u can get 8400GS...

if 915 only supports ddr2, how come u're using 400mhz sticks??
