OneStat.com reported that Mozilla's browsers have a total global usage share of 7.35 percent. The new Mozilla's Firefox has a total usage share of 4.58. The total usage share of Mozilla was 2.1 percent at the end of May. Microsoft's Internet Explorer still dominates the global browser market with a global usage share of 88,90 percent which is 5 percent less as at the end of May.

"It seems that people are switching from Microsoft's Internet Explorer to Mozilla's new Firefox browser. The total usage share of Microsoft declined 5 percent and the total usage share of Mozilla increased 5 percent," said Niels Brinkman, co-founder of OneStat.com.

Microsoft's IE 6 is currently the leading browser on the web. Microsoft's IE 6 global usage has increased with 11.65 percent from 69.3 percent to 80.95 percent since May 2004.

Opera's global usage share is 1.33 percent and Safari has a global usage of 0.91 percent.

Well just for your info, those statistics are wrong!!

Actually the data is got from website servers that keep a log of the user-agent. And most people actually change their user-agent string to make it appear to the site that the person is using IE! (for enabling all features, example, RediffMail) . Infact, Opera by default sets the user-agent string to IE so when people visit sites using Opera, the webserver logs it as IE! Which explains why the Opera percentage is so low- Even Firefox has got an easy way to change the user agent..

So the truth is IE's share is actually WAY down that so called 90%.

What really shows the percentage is the user polls- Just visit any tech site/forum- Most of them have a browser poll and you'll immediately get to know whos the looser here

When you are way on top,
there is only one way i.e down.

One thing that actually that needs to be seen here is that wether ie6 has lesser ppl using it or has the share just dropped.
Example:- they might have a market share of just 80% today but since the overall size of the market has increased they might actually have more ppl using it than before??

give this a thought !!!! :?
