How to remove the black background in subtitles VLC Media Player

hi

i have updated my VLC player today and i tried to play a .ts format files which in has an inbuilt subtitle. when played the video there is a black background coming behind the subtitles. Any one knows how to remove these black backgrounds..? my VLC Player is 2.1.5.

If you're having this issue with a particular file then try playing it in some other player like Potplayer and see if the black background is still present. If it is, then may be the subs were hardcoded that way.
