How to play multiplayer games through wi-fi ?

I have recently purchased a ASUS P5MX-WI-FI-AP ,and when asked by the dealer he said it is possible to play multiplayer games with it ,if a supported device is present ,but he was ignorant in it's use .My freind has Compaque presario v6000 with in built wifi .How can i link and play games with him.

both of u shud on ur wifi, and try to detect each other then i think u cud play via lan

The thing is that i am basically ignorant how to set up wireless lan ,but still i think that as today's connectivity is so fast so setting up will be easy .Please can you give procedure accordingly
