I am having windows XP in my machine. How can i restart my computer in MS-DOS mode. I know this option is available in windows 98 (I have another machine with WIN 98 installed). I want to do this because i am facing issues with my Epson LQ-300+ printer. This printer is not able print anything from windows but is able to print from DOS. So i want to restart my computer in pure DOS mode (running DOS under windows as in XP does not work) to at least use the printer with the DOS program.

well, all OS till windows ME are dos-based. meaning, windows is only a shell for DOS. But in NT and above, windows has its own operating kernel. so dos is completely eliminated. the cmd is just a shell for windows in this case.

to boot in puredos mode, either make a bootable cd/dvd/flash drive/floppy with dos in it and boot with it.
Or you can go the long way and install win98 first and then xp and use 98's dos mode.
Or you can install 98 on a virtual machine inside xp(google vmware, virtualbox, microsoft virtual pc) and install your printer in 98 and print.
