Gaming rig around 50k (without graphic card and monitor for now)

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: Coding(Eclipse) and I want to play games like Valorant, Devil May Cry, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption at highest possible settings at 1440p. 1080p if not possible with my budget.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: 50k . I can extend by 5k. This is without graphic card. I'll buy 3070 rtx when it comes out. The build should be ready for this.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 10 and Ubuntu in dual boot

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: 512GB SSD should be minimum I suppose. I have a question here. If I need more space for games, then is portable ssd a viable option?

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: No. I have a 1080p 60HZ 24" monitor. However, if possible, I want the build to be ready for 1440p@144hz.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Monitor and Graphic card. I'm not reusing but planning to buy later. RTX 3070

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: After a month at MRP. But I can buy few components now and save GST on them. But I'll have to carry those in flight in hand baggage.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: By me.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: As of now I'm in Patna. I can buy few components now and save GST on them but I'll have to carry them in flight. After one month, I'll be in Bangalore. I'm open to buying online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: Since I'm not buying graphic card, I'll prefer a CPU with iGPU that'll allow me to play Valorant for time being. Also, what I'm looking for is playing games at highest possible setting on a 24" 16:9 monitor. I can compromise on resolution for that. Please guide me here if I'm in the wrong. Should I focus on resolution rather than detail level? I have a 1080p 60hz monitor as of now which I plan on using. But if possible, I'll like the build for 1440p

After a month at MRP.
Never buy components on MRP in India.

Buy stuff online and get it delivered to Bangalore directly after you reach there.

Never compromise on resolution if the screen size is above 7".

But isn't 1080p enough for 24"? 4k is definitely an overkill. I'll buy the components in Bangalore as you suggested. Thanks!

You wrote you can compromise on resolution for playing at highest settings. I replied don't compromise on resolution. Target at least 1080p60 on high or medium settings. Don't waste GPU power on ultra settings.

Okay, I understand. I have a 1080p monitor which I plan on using for now. Thanks!

I have prepared this config. Please suggest otherwise. Thanks!

Core i5-10400 processor - 15.35K
MSI B460M PRO-VDH WIFI motherboard- 10.1K
Kingston HyperX Impact 16GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM- 4.95k
Corsair CX Series CX650 650W Power Supply - 5.25k
Crucial MX500 2.5 inch 500GB SATA III SSD - 5.4k
MSI MAG FORGE 100M Case - 4.725k

Few questions (unintelligent maybe :) ):-

1) CPU cooler should be included with i5-10400. Right?
2) Will 2666MHZ be a bottleneck for gaming at 1440p and rtx 3070?
3) Are the above components compatible?
4) Please suggest upgrades if possible. I can still spend 7-8k more. Should I go for a better processor?
5) Should I be investing more for getting full potential out of 3070RTX?

Since you gonna get 3070, why not get non G Ryzen processor and used GT730/1030 until you buy 3070?
If still you wanna go for iGPU, check 4650G+B550 combo comes in your budget (about 4k higher than your 10400 build)
Check if 650w is good enough for 3070, if not go 750w and if you have enough dough, go for Gold tier PSU.

Yes, 10400 comes with stock cooler
With higher frequency you will get better performance, I wouldn't call that bottleneck.
If you think you won't need more than 32GB RAM in this build's life, go for 2x8GB memory.

Thanks for the reply. I was inclined towards ryzen but it seems that 3800x is the recommended one for 3070rtx and it's way expensive than 10600k

Seems good

1. Yes
2. Not so much, but higher MHz RAM definitely improves fps
3. Yes
4. An i7 costs 27-28k, R5 5600X will likely cost that much as well but lacks iGPU
5. Yes, maybe get the whole rig later along with GPU, that way you can go for AMD. Ryzen 5000 is coming out in a few days.

RTX 3070 is overkill for 1080p, hopefully you will invest in 1440p 144Hz later.

CPU - AMD R5 5600X - 27k (assumed)

Mobo - MSI B550M Pro VDH WiFi - 12.5k

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz - 7k (Dual channel improves performance a bit)

GPU - Later

M.2 SSD - WD SN550/Kingston A2000 500GB - 5k

HDD - WD/Seagate 1TB - 3k

PSU - Antec NE/EAG or CM MWE 650 Gold rated - 6.5k

Cabinet - Deepcool Mattrexx 55 Mesh - 5.5k (another good option)*

Monitor - Later

Total - 66.5k

first thing first , get at least 3000MHz or more of ram because 2666MHz is not very applauding on a GPU like 3070.
go for 8*2 ram sticks for dual channel and use all the power of your PC. don't spend this much money on case until u are
a content creator or want to show off. something about 2K to 2.5K will be enough. ( Its my personal thought that a person should save money on
on these things , if you don't agree than go with your choice.)
THANK YOU
Have great gaming.
