1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.' Vague answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work.)
Ans: The main use cases are multiplayer (online) gaming, photo (RAW) editing & video editing for the next 6-8 years I suppose, then will consider upgrading.
I mostly play Counter Strike on my gaming laptop, but sadly ater its update to CS2, I never got decent fps again, I get around 50-70. Also, Saints Row, etc but I don't get much time for games now.
I'm also a hobbyist photographer, and I might get into it professionally. Now, RAW files are more resource consuming to edit than jpg files, plus my next camera (could be Canon R5 Mark II) will give 45 megapixel images.
Video editing is also one of my core interests, so far I'm doing it on my (2 different) work and gaming laptops. Right now i do 1080p for my clients but I might aim at 4K. 8K looks unreasonable for now as I'm in a small city.
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: Around 1 Lakh, may extend to 1.2 max.
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No such plan. I'm a 38 year old working person, I don't have much time to get into the details & complications. If recommended, I might overclock.
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Linux (Pop OS) for Privacy reasons (and in dual boot, Windows 7 to be used offline, with default processor graphics, I have the product key ready)
5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: I can start with a 1TB SSD, but expansion possibility to 2TB is needed afterwards.
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: Aiming for 27-32 inch size. No "smart" features. I'm thinking between 2K & 4K. If 4K taxes my graphics a lot, I can use 1080p for certain apps. 165-180Hz at least. I'd like reasonable quality, but no heavy demands. IPS should be ok, VA I've heard has some colour sweep issues or something so would like to avoid.
Response time 1ms would be good.
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I already have a gaming grade keyboard and mouse. I'm focusing on the cabinet for now.
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Within the next 1 year.
9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Not built before. Only used laptops before, I own 2 laptops.
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Rajasthan, India. Can buy both online & offline.
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: This is what I'm thinking about each component:-
Motherboard: Any modern board without wifi/ bluetooth, if possible, for privacy reasons. Sound should be reasonably good, if not the best.
Processor: Something like a model of Core i7 12th gen or Ryzen 7 within 30k something.
Graphics Card: This is important. I'm considering a lower model of RTX4070, or a good deal within RTX4060. Maybe around 40k for this, but I'd love some VFM Deal with DLSS presence too. Can I got the AMD Way? I don't know if it has DLSS.
RAM: I think 4800Mhz 16GB must be enough for now, to be expanded later on when need arises?
Cabinet: I don't care about looks or LED lights. Cabinet better be useful with fans and ventilation space and so.
Power supply: A basic 450W can do the job I think?
Overall, I need a value for money deal. Feel free to suggest one or two older generations in everything (but in graphics card, I'd like DLSS). Thanks.
