Hello all!

I wanted your learned opinion regarding gaming laptops.

Since the nvidia 40 series is about to launch in a few months the prices of the 30 series laptops have begun to drop or finally have started becoming available in some cases.

I was thinking of these models I have shortlisted but wanted to make an informed decision.

1. Asus TUF A17 (Rs 1.25 L)
Specs:
Latest Ryzen 7 -6800H
Rtx 3060 tdp115 + 25 w ( says upto 140w) with MUX switch
16 GB DDR5 at 4800mhz

2. Dell G15-5515 (Rs 1.1L)
Specs:
Ryzen 7 5800H
Rtx 3060 TDP 115+10 w with MUX switch
16gb ddr4

3. MSI gaming pulse GL66 (Rs 1.1L)
Specs:
17 11800H
Rtx 3070 TDP 85 w
16 gB 3200 MHz ddr4 ram

4. Asus TUF F17(2022) (Rs 1.37 L)
Specs:
1.i7 12700H
Rtx 3060 TDP 115 +25 w (says upto 140w)
16gb DDR5 4800 MHz Ram

5. Asus TUF A17 (Rs 1.26 L)
Specs:
Latest Ryzen 7 6800h
Rtx 3060 with MUX switch,says upto 140w
16 gB DDR5 4800mhz ram

I already have a good gaming monitor with 144hz so display color reproduction and refresh rate arnt my concern.

The only other factors I have are SSD storage and connectivity ports.

Is there any other laptop I'm missing in this list and what is the best at this price range?

Is it better to wait for the 40 series to come?

Is the MUX switch an important consideration if I plan to play on a gaming monitor via HDMI?

Thanking all in advance!

Questionnaire for laptop/notebook purchase

  1. A17 - bad display is a bummer but else its great at 120k
  2. Dell G15 - IMO avoid it because it runs hotter than competition
  3. MSI - that one will likely perform like 3060 115W with MUX. MSI has poor build & after sales, GF & GL series are not well build. GP & GE series are good but expensive.
  4. F17 - Expensive, easy no
  5. How is this different from 1?
DDR5 vs DDR4 doesn't matter much for now. Next gen DDR5 RAMs with faster freq & tighter timings will be better, just see how DDR4 2133MHz didn't make much sense initially but now DDR4 3200 & 3600 are easy recommendations.

MUX helps only with internal display. Since you will be gaming on ext monitor, won't matter much as dGPU of most gaming laptops at this price connects directly to ext monitor. Just look for a laptop with mini DP port/protocol on type C.

My recommendation - A17 at 120k or Legion 5 (better build & after sales, bit older CPU with 5800H)
