FREEWARE ANTIVIRUS vs PAID ANTIVIRUS...!

My QUICK HEAL TOTAL SECURITY 2012 IS GOING TO EXPIRE IN THESE COMING 5 TO 6 DAYS....I DON'T WANT TO BUY ANY ANTIVIRUS..IS FREEWARE ANTIVIRUS IS sufficient FOR PROTECTION AGAINST SEVERAL VIRUSES WHILE SURFING NET OR ACCESSING PENDRIVEs???
OR I HAVE TO BUY ANY Antivirus Virus For MY LAPTOP?

If you are smart enough in your day-to-day usage, free antivirus should be enough. I know of people who don't use any anti-virus at all, but I personally don't recommend that.
But if you are too paranoid about security you can use a free AV+firewall+antimalware for eg Avast+Comodo firewall+Malwarebytes Antimalware.
On the other hand if you want an all-in-one combo where a single suite contains all required components and you don't want to manually take care, go for a paid suite.
But again smart usage is what counts the most.
