Planning to buy one with a steel strap.

Hope it's a good decision? Secondly, is anything better in the same price bracket? Steel straps are a must.

No, wait for offers during a sale if you have decided on Fossil Gen 6. The only Wear OS watch that has v3 update with all features enabled is the Galaxy Watch that too when paired with Samsung smart phone. Moreover, most of these Wear OS watches lag, wear OS apps are unpolished.

Google is going to announce the Pixel Watch (as per rumors) at Google I/O 2022. Better wait till that announcement.
