You won't be able to use the card on other devices. You'd need to format it if you want to use it anywhere else.

So, searched the web for that & seems like 'format as internal storage' option is not available in my mobile as it's Android 7.0 Nougat. I haven't updated it for a while..
I went in Settings>About Phone>common> Update center to check & my Nougat version is still Android 7.0. Will updating it to android 7.1.2 help me enable 'format as internal storage'?

From what I am aware of (by surfing about this), it's not available in Android 7.0 Nougat but I'll remove my SD card & insert it again

This is an issue with Android 7 from what I got from searching online.

AFAIK Adoptable storage option is disabled/hidden in Stock ROMs, as the manufacturers provide more inbuilt storage so as to increase the mobile's performance (read & write) - instead of depending on SD card which comes with a dip.
Most of the custom ROMs provide this option for formatting SD as Internal or External. So, if you're OK with custom ROM, you can give it a try.
