Fixing Windows 10

Recently, an unfinished update caused my Windows 10 corrupted. I couldn't repair it by any means. Then I tried to install it on the same partition. Sadly that too didn't work ( bad sector ? ).

Now I had it as a dual boot and Ubuntu is working fine. For now, I simply miss Windows, that's all. All is good.

But for some bill payments online, I don't trust Linux enough. I had issues in the past with those govt e-pay websites. So I will have to replace Windows 10 somehow.

Everyone says to format the Windows partition and reinstall Windows 10 on it. Fine, but will it break the partition table ? Will I lose Ubuntu as well ?

I don't want that to happen. What I want to ask is that can I simply format that MBR Windows Partition ? Will it destroy other partitions ? Any help will be great.

OS should not matter. These days some shit websites ignore everything except chrome. Not firefox's fault. Using chrome on linux should be problem free. You can also try changing useragent of chrome to say windows instead of linux (using an extension), in case some site is using browser sniffing.
Can also install windows using virtualbox on ubuntu.

Generally yes. There are apparently workarounds: windows 10 after ubuntu - Google Search

I formatted the Windows partition and re-installed. Everything was fine until restart. Now that Windows 10 booted from HDD, it said " Unable to .. " and then asked me to restart and then re-install. I recovered Ubuntu through a live session. Now everything is back to where it is.
