Most of my pen drives are from SanDisk/Transcend. However, I needed a 128GB pen drive for occasional use and in this Amazon sell I decided to check out DigiTek pen drive. *www.digitek.net.in/
This purchase was totally experimental!! DUD 128 GB USB 3.2 Gen1. *www.digitek.net.in/products/digitek-pen-drive-usb-3-0-128-gb
The pen drive is working fine. I put it thru Flash driver tester app and it came out clean. I am getting about 41 MB/S Seq write speeds when directly connected to USB 3 port which is quite good.
However, whenever I connected the pen drive to USB 3 extension cable (good known brands like Amazon Basics/ Fedus etc) it negotiated to USB 2.0.
As such USB extension cable is something not approved by USB Specification so for this reason it’s not the pen drive’s fault, so I did not return it.
However I showed the video evidence to DigiTeck support that all my SanDisk pen drives as well as External HDDs connect as USB 3.0 thru extension cable except this pen drive. They opened a ticket in their system to track this case. I wanted to know if the pen drive has very tight USB 3.0 specs such that a slight drop in voltage thru cable and the system negotiates it to USB 2.0
The company just told me that they will get back to me. After a few days I receive an email that the ticket is closed. When inquired, they did not inform me anything and just kept on giving scripted response -> “Your satisfaction is very important to us, and we are committed to providing you with the best possible service”
My guess is that the device is designed with no tolerance to USB 3.0 specs hence when voltage slightly drops thru the extension cable while my other devices still work as USB 3.0 but this pen drive falls back to USB 2.0.
Make a note of it if someone wants to buy it. YMMV of course!
