Exclusive: Next-gen Nexus hardware to be unveiled in mid-October, Android L hits November 1st

Just last week Paul O’ Brien mentioned a possible release date for the rumored HTC Nexus 9, October 16th. While he admitted the information came from an anonymous tipster, the Android developer is well respected and likely not to post up a date unless he has good reason to believe it. In short, his statement lended quite a bit of credence to the idea of a mid-October unveiling.

Looking for more details on the matter? Thanks to two different sources familiar with Google’s plans, we have learned that the HTC Nexus 9 will be unveiled on either October 15th or the 16th. Additionally there is mention of new phone hardware (possibly the rumored Moto Nexus?) and the unveiling of “a new software initiative”, which likely refers to Android L’s final release.

While Android L and new Nexus hardware will be shown off in mid-October, the final version of Android L won’t officially be available until November 1st, according to our sources. Keep in mind it’s unclear whether that’s when the latest Nexus hardware with Android L will be sold (or shipped?), when existing Nexus devices will get the update, or both. Either way, the wait for Android L and the next generation of the Nexus family appears to almost be over!

Even though we are rather confident of the validity of the information disclosed above, dates can change and even the most reliable intel can sometimes prove false — so speculation is still advised. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as we learn more, so be sure to stay tuned to Android Authority.

Mid October!! :D

Btw... the dates seems counter intuitive to me. Isn't Nexus released with a new version of Android everytime? So how can the hardware be released before software? They both should be released the same time!?

After the iphone drop test i take everything that is written here with a grain of salt. Something feels broken after that video.
