1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:

1. The computer will be used for general purposes @ home.

2. Software will be- MS Office, Photoshop, different charting programs like Metastock, Ninjatrader, Amibroker and similars. I will be using a VM also.

3. Casual gaming. Older games of 2012-2017 will be enough.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 50K. May be extended up to 60K.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 10 Pro (64 bit).

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 2TB. I will use my existing Seagate HDD Barracuda Compute.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: I will go for a 22” or 24”. Full HD. 1920*1080..

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: HDD (2 TB Barracuda Compute) and PSU (Antec VP550P)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within this year.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Yes. But this time I will go to an assembler.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Kolkata. Yes. No online, please.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I need recommendation for all the parts except HDD & SMPS i.e.

1. CPU 2. Motherboard 3. RAM 4. HDD: Seagate 2 TB 2 TB Barracuda Compute 5. PSU: Antec VP555P

6. GPU: (Not much interested, if APU can suffice) 7. Monitor: 8. Cabinet: 9. Keyboard & Mouse: 10. Speakers: 11. UPS:

Some requirements are -

All the parts should be compatible. There should not be any known issues between them. No BIOS update, please. There should not be any bottleneck in performance either.

The most important thing that I should mention here is that I don’t want to run into the infamous 100% disk usage nightmare.

Thanks a lot, bssunilreddy
  • I don't need an HDD. I have already mentioned it. I have a Seagate 2 TB Barracuda Compute.
  • Should I spend so much on UPS (Rs. 6000/-) ??
  • What about the Speakers?
  • Can I go for 24" Monitor or should I stick to 22" only with this configuration?
  • Is this BenQ monitor good enough for gaming without FreeSync?
  • Can you please suggest another less pricey Cabinet?

Okay.

Like, say Crysis series II, III, Farcry series II, III, IV etc.
Doubt an APU would be good enough for 1080p60 med-high in these games. You should look for a Ryzen 5 2600 + GTX 1060 6GB from reddit (link: Zotac gtx 1060 6gb Amp! 3 Years warranty! : IndianGaming) instead.

GTX 1650 Super is better than GTX 1060

CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 3500 - 11k

Mobo - Asrock B450 Pro4 ATX - 7k*

RAM - 2x8GB DDR4 3600MHz - 6.1k

GPU - Zotac GTX 1650 Super - 14.7k

SSD - Kingston A400 120GB 2.5″ - 1.6k

HDD - You have one

PSU - Corsair CX550 - 4.5k (You don't have a good PSU)

Cabinet - Cooler Master/Antec/corsair mid tower ATX - 4k

Monitor - LG 24MP59G 24" 1080p 75Hz Freesync - 9.5k

Total - 58.4k

*ASUS TUF B450M Pro Gaming at 8k is another great option, both need the latest BIOS to run 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs though.

Games like Far Cry 4 might not be the heaviest, but there are 2017 or older games which are pretty intensive, like PUBG, Witcher 3, etc. This is a proper gaming PC & should run everything for next 3-4 years provided you drop resolution & quality. To drop costs further, get the GTX 1060 that goku suggested & even remove 1 RAM stick to bring price close to 50k.

Won't this be a bottleneck for VMs?
It shouldn't as Ryzen 3rd gen has better single core performance than older ones. From what I could find online, its Cinebench R20 scores are about ~2800, bit less than R5 2600 but bit better than R5 1600. As its priced between those 2, it seems like a good choice especially due to better performance in games, better than 2600 or similar to it.

  • Is the motherboard Asus PRIME B450M-A @ 6500 a better option?
  • Is it absolute necessary to replace the PSU? I purchased it two years back. Its still under warranty.

No,asus B450M-A has inferior VRMs compared to gigabyte B450M gaming. In fact asrock B450 pro 4 is superior to both of them but it is usually out of stock this time of the year. I found this where it has a chance of availability,if it is available(confirm over phone) buy immediately with eyes closed else it may not be back in stock for next few months.

Seriously change the motherboard & PSU. Get the AsRock one from itdepot posted earlier for 6.5k, much better board. The one you selected is a shit B450 mobo, has just 2 RAM slots vs 4 in almost every other.
Buy ASUS TUF B450M-PRO GAMING at Lowest price in India - mdcomputers.in

Get Corsair CX550 for 4.5k. The PSU you have isn't even 80+ bronze rated. You don't want to skimp on an inferior power supply for a gaming PC. 80+ bronze rated ones are the minimum for even entry level gaming PCs. The extra 5k is worth it.

Jump to R5 3500, if possible. Better for gaming than Ryzen 1st & 2nd gen.
