Hi Guys, I use a P4 machine with 256MB RAM and Win XP SP1. The problem is my computer restarts or stops responding within 5 mins from booting. The problem is frequent whenever I try to surf internet and it is occasional when I work offline. If I leave the system idle for sometime it doesn't restart but if I do something it restarts within 2 mins.I have formatted the system and scanned with Avast and Kaspersky.

The mouse click doesn't work and pointer doesn't move. Key strokes also not working.

I'm sure there is no virus attack. I think it has to be something with hardware. Plz help me guys..........

Democracy is a myth
U r computer is of stone age.
Please do it a favor and upgrade. If not H/W, then at least S/W.

First update ur XP to SP3. (Plz backup ur data b4 this)
It'll solve half ur probs.

Cause that may be responsible for the probs u r facing:-
(System Restart)
1>Time to change SMPS
2>Faulty RAM (B/W, do u get too many BSODs??)
3>Loose connection in ur cabinet.

//Plz upgrade ur RAM if possible.

(Sticky KBD and mouse)
1>I guess ur mouse is ball mouse. If not, it may be the Laser is faulty. If ball mouse. CLEAN ur mouse ball and the wheels inside thoroughly.
2>About KBD, plz clean it, there is no other reason for it.

Reset everything in BIOS, if changes were made earlier.
Now, boot in Safe Mode and select Normal startup in MS configuration utility.
Even if that doesn't work, then remove RAM(s) from slots and plug them again one by one.
Check for loose connections with other peripherals. Clean, the cabinet from inside if there is dust accumulation. Make sure there isn't anything wrong with PSU.
Post the results. Good Luck.. :)

I think you computer is facing overheating problems.

1. Check the thermal paste on the CPU.
2. Check if the processor is given sufficient cooling
3. RAM may be faulty
4. It could be due to lot of registry errors also Try Tune Up Utlities and clear them.
5. Also it can happen due to some kind of startup virus. It may also be drwatson32.exe virus which eats up your processor and RAM. It automatically gets loaded while playing games if it is installed. Try to scan with an Antivirus or block it using a Firewall or download Noob Killer and check.

6. Download ATF cleaner and clear all junk off the PC.
