Right off the assembly line
Hi ppl

I have this problem...

I got a cd witer with my HP PC... and off late when I burn things using Nero ( The latest version )... and run a cd-verification, it says error reading sector.. this happens with CD-R and CD-RW...

The files dont execute...

HELP !!!

try turning off some system hungry stuff

use some good CD-R , CD-RW media

try copying a cd once to check whether ur writer is working fine r not

Could be bad cable.. OR it could be the other drive you have connected to the same cable is causing problems. Do you have anothe drive or cdrom connected as a slave to the same cable? I have had this weird corruption problems with bad cables or having my LG drive as a slave with a DVD-ROM drive as master.. But switching the drive as a master fixed the problem. (actually took it back to the shop and had to be embarsed when they connected it and it worked fine).

1]Always burn atleast 4X speed lesser than the CD media supports.
2]Enable DMA both for HDD and CD Writer.
3]Update the ASPI layer.

In addition to all that swatkat has suggested, I also suggest you make sure you check the "Verify written data" while the burn process is executing. If the process fails, its most likely the media at fault. Get a known good media, preferably none of that 12 buck stuff that seems to be doing the rounds these days.
