Can i use a compatible battery with my dell 6400?

HI,
i need a new battery for my dell laptop Inspiron E1505/6400. I can find some compatible batteries on ebay.in and other sites as well. Is it recommended to use them? Any one any experience with it?

I'm using a compatible battery in my Dell Inspiron 640m for the past 1.5 yrs. purchased on ebay.in for around 3.5k I think.

mainly use the laptop on AC power.. no probs till now
