Buying a wifi router for domestic use

Hi
Hope you guys are doing well.

I am planning to buy a new dual band wifi router within budget 2k-2.5k. Around 4-6 devices will be connected with it. House is of around 1200 sqft. Maximum coverage will be preferred.

And also, I have an old d link dir615. Can it be used in some good ways?

Thanks.

This is a popular choice:

This can be considered a good, relatively budget option:
D-Link DIR-819 750 Mbps Router - D-Link : Flipkart.com
(Most don't have 1Gbps connections, so 750Mbps on WiFi will suffice, it has Gigabit LAN port though)

I prefer tplink devices over dlink in budget router category so will suggest Archer C6. You can use your old dlink router as wired access point(connect old dlink to new router via lan wire & place it in a location where new router signal strength is low).

For budget routers, I had bad experiences with TP-Link over D-Link. With TP-Link, 3/3 devices started connection drop issue after 2 years or so. But I have heard good things about their Archer series.

Since late 2017 Archer series is selling with good reviews. Which budget router you got from tplink?

2x TL-WR740N & 1x TP-Link TL-WR841N, seen problems in these, I think. Own one of those 740N
Yes those series actually have multiple hardware versions(some of which are supported by dd-wrt & some are not) some of which were not good so luck factor played a major role as amazon/fk usually don't show hardware version.

Compared to that, I have used 2 D-Link modem+routers at home till now, each worked ~5 years before causing issues & being replaced. 3rd one was bought about 2 years ago.

D-link modem+router models were good & comparable to tplink models of that time. I think after initial good models tplink quality went down a bit with their later hardware versions. Now the archer series looks fine for budget range. In fact now I suggest to go for asus RT-AC58U which comes with quad core processor & 128mb ram but its current price is quite inflated(its original/correct price is ~4800-5k) if your budget is ~5k & you are looking to connect a lot of devices on high speed network(quad core & extra ram really does help here).
