Hello Friends!

Which do you this is the best software for Video DVD copying & compressing. Please keep in mind that quality plays the major role followed by time.

I am including a few name that I know works well. Please let me know other good softwares that should be included in the Poll so that I can add them too.

Lets make this thread a generalised DVD related thread so that one doesn't have to search here and there to get the answers to her/his questions. So, all doubts relating to DVD copying and compressing are invited.

Thank you.

I have a few original Video DVD's and the problem is that I am unable to copy them. I even tried to make an image of it and also tried to go directly for DVD copy, but all options failed.

Is there any software with the help of which I can copy these CD's. I have tried Nero, Alcohol 120%, DVD Shrink, DVD Decriptor etc, but all failed.

The error I am getting is something like this...

Now I am not sure why am I getting this error, because of data read error or some thing else. I dont think this is a data read error because when I watched this movie in my DVD player, there was absolutely no problem. So how is it possible that there can be a data read error in my computer.

Another problem I had with one of my DVD's was with it's file size. Check the screenshot below and you will mark that all .vob files except one is of 0 KB whereas the total disk space is more than 4 GB.

Now, how is that possible. Even when I try to run those .vob files by double clicking on them, nothing happens. I try to check weather or not the DVD has the complete movie in DVD shrink, I found every thing to be there. Now this doesn't make sence to me... Can you figure it out?

I have only used Ulead Media Studio for all my video DVD compressing..So I am unaware about the working of the rest.

I find Ulead very useful & the interface is easy to understand. Yet the s/w adds a lot to itself in terms of utility...

Standalone DVD Players will ignore read errors and "skip" when they encounter bad data in scratched discs. Not so with PC. While ripping, a few missing bytes of data will cause the whole image to be corrupt.

Thanks for the information, but no one answered the doubt I had with regard to the size of the .vob files.

Please refer my post above with the big image for details.
