AMD Vs Intel

1) i went on much on a dilema on opting for my system config of Athlon 2400+. over intel p4. i wanted to try this as this is new for me. i need
some more information about amd athlon processors on par with
intel's. which would you recommend? what combination would be
better (i mean mother board etc) with amd athlon processors? are
there any worthy mentions about this processor?
2) why does my system show a clock speed of 2000 MHz, while it is rated at 2400+?

there has been much debate on this already if u search for it on the forum...

what information do u want about athlons...

if it is rated 2400+ it does not mean that it runs at 2400Mhz...my venice is rated 3000+ and runs at 1800Mhz...

what athlon do u have that is rated 2400+ and runs at 2000Mhz...this has actually comfuesd me...

my new Athlon64 2800+ runs at 1.8Gz
