advice on buying a ram

I have a 2 gb kingston ram 800 mhz single channel and i want to buy a new 4gb transcend ram 1333 mhz single channel. What performance will it provide to my desktop.

ok... for dual channel both ram need same speed.. means both ram should run at 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz whatever it is.. ;)
also for triple or quad same speed needed... ;)

dual channel will add little performance improvement and everyone will recommend to you for getting dual channel or triple or quad setup...

If you are on 32bit there will be a noticeable difference in opening of apps and multitasking whereas on a 64 bit system I would suggest you to get more RAM.

Do you even have a DDR3 RAM in the first place? that 800MHz RAM sounds like DDR2. If so, you cannot add a DDR3 1333MHz RAM to a system running DDR2 RAM. Post your complete specs so that people can advise you better.
