G2 : Overall a very balanced phone with a very good camera and display, as long as you don't mind the build.

Moto X first generation : Fantastically optimized software, with brilliant ergonomics and very good build. But the camera is sub par and hardware is out dated, if it matters to you. But the display is 4.7"only.

S4 Google Play Edition : Should be the best bet if you could find one. Forget about warranty though.

Nexus 5 : Won't go jabbering the details. A phone for Android purists.

Since you want a phablet, i guess G Pro 2 is best for you if u can afford it (try to find it cheaper locally)

Hell no, who do you think made nexus 4 and 5
LG is the only big OEM which tries new designs and materials in the flagships. Each new flagship is significantly different from previous one. Your dad isn't going to use the phone now is it?

i had the same issue when i was to buy nexus 5 for my dad and me,their phones are actually very well made
i also used to think LG had quality issues but i think they are one of the best phone makers right now

though if he doesnt like LG,why lenovo? lenovo is really bad for phones and tablets, coming from someone who has two lenovo tabs at home(laptops are a different thing, lenovo is great for laptops)

LG is the only safe android oem overall(arguably)

if he's going to use 4g extensively, battery life will suffer, no matter what phone you use. G2/G Pro 2 is the phone for him. Forget samdung, forget failtc, forget sony.
