$1000 Laptop from US

kARTechnology

Sony " VA" "IO"
1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)
$1000 max

2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
Want it to be sturdy, strong, and metallic body preferred
I have a HP lap I got for 35k which has broken miserably due to full plastic construction, the plastic bits which hold the screws also broke, so now that 35K laptop is a downloading rig

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?
coding (currently I'm doing IT engineering).
browsing (have a 40Mbps Internet)
maybe gaming if there is plenty of time and bored

5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
i7 6700HQ -the latest and powerful one of all ehh?
960M 2/4GB -which one to choose
m.2 SSD (any size)
additional HDD support (will add later myself internal SATA port, a 1tb/2tb)
USB 3 TYPE-C -future proofing

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: -
b. Dislike: - MODELS which are available in lower range in India like the DELL INSPIRON series...there are plenty of them in celeron/atom config :(

6) Anything else you would like to say?
Will buy @ US, At amazon.com / newegg
1080p , heard that 4k has some issues
dual fans, want it to stay cool

Dell inspiron 7559... Get the i7 version (UHD display one if budget allows)

It just has a okay keyboard & touch pad according to reviews. Also the 1080p display is average. Great gaming performance due to GTX960M 4GB GDDR5 & i7 6700HQ... Temperature ain't a issue due to 3 exhausts... It has an additional M2 slot... No usb c though

Other option : Asus GL552VW which basically fulfills all your requirements, has better screen than Dell, 7200rpm hdd, dvd drive & aggressive red looks... Dell is slimmer than asus & also has better battery life

MSI is good but a bit overpriced + Asus has better after sales, atleast in India

Check if Asus is providing international warranty. Dell & MSI definitely has it

I personally feel inspiron will attract less attention compared to asus or msi (I'm saying this as I'm using a Y500 for more than 3 years... Not much problem in college, but after that....)

My fear is the plastic build quality.

Currently using a vaio laptop made of metal base(rest partially plastic) since ~5 years, lots of abuse yet fast with an ssd now.
I can carry the laptop holding the display with 1 hand confidently!

It has good enough build quality... MSI & Asus might be a bit superior

Check official US website for warranty or chat with a representative

MSI GE60 Apache-629, Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition, ASUS ROG GL551JW-DS71 would be my suggestion.

I have purchased Dell Inspiron 15 7000 7559, it has core i series 6th generation with 960M GPU. IPS display looks good, since you'll be importing you'll be getting backlit keyboard. Build quality is very good (I own 2 Dell laptops both has had no problems at all in a combined 8years of usage).

A friend of mine recently purchased GE60 Apache after some research so it must be good.
Asus ROG GL551, specs are good as per your requirements and within your budget.
Acer v15 Nitro Black Edition, I have seen in multiple top laptops posts and videos.

Off topic, but are you saying that Indian version of Dell 7559 lacks backlit keyboard?

Because in both US & India, it is listed as optional

It is optional for both US and Indian version. It was not available when I was trying to place order from dell official Indian site, confirmed from customer service as well. Might be available in future though. Also Dell 7559 with backlit keyboard is available on flipkart.

Probably, the backlit version was purchased more than the one without that it went out of stock/unavailable via the Indian dell site.

i have this 7559. its almost month and its awesome. great build quality and great performance. i dont see any problem with keyboard, but touchpad would have been better. regarding warranty, i think you can transfer service tag from US to india. i did not tried it but friends did that succesfully.

i believe this inspiron build quality is much better than most of asus ones.

i bought it from US for 839$.(comes around 56K) and added another 8gig ram. It has backlit keyboard. Go with it, you wont be disappointed.

BTW, my last laptop is sony Vaio and i am pretty happy with them.its bad sony stopped else would have gone with sony again.

I'm a huge sony fanboy :p and typing this from a VAIO dual core :p
the trackpad, display and usb-c is stopping me from getting the inspiron.
the acer nitro v15 has all but difficult to disassmble to upgrade.
should see into MSI PE60 6QE-031US
has usb-c but 3gb gddr5 graphic memory.
