winxpsp1

I Install two Os in my system win98 and winxpsp1. when i start winxpsp1 the computer scan the d drive and stop on 0% and no any response. can some one tell me what i do because i have to much data on winxp and i do not want to format d drive. but i start winxpsp1 without scan it start normaly...
