I know this is a stupid question but is there any alternative available for Visual Studio.net? I mean open source software that can do all the stuff which VS.net does?

i have winxp on my pc. i was installing visual studio.net 2003 but power went off and setup got closed in between. as a result when i try to install it again...it gives an error saying that "a failed instalation has been detected. try uninstalling the product." but i could not find from...
