slow data transfer

hey guys, i just got this laptop some weeks ago... just that i had a query...about the hard disk in this laptop.....performance of which is not quite what i expected !! i was supplied with a TOSHIBA hard disk in the laptop !! (i read somewhere that samsung spinpoint is supplied) :-?:-?:-?:-...
