Use IGP even with discreet GPU connected

Hi, I want to know if it's possible to use the IGP for gaming even when a discreet graphic card is connected, without affecting the ability to use the discreet graphic card for Phys X and CUDA. I have nvidia 8400GS which apparently is slower than HD2000 of my i3 2100. But I am learning CUDA...
