charging problem

When i connect my adapter to my laptop,it normally charging . But after 2 or 2.5 hr it shows not pluged in though adapter is connected. If i shut down my laptop for sometime and again start it and connect adapter same thing occur.what is the acctual problem?

Till yesterday it was charging and working perfectly...but today morning when I kept it for charge...it didn't charge at all. And now trying different solutions from the internet it has drained completely. I had ordered it from the US and its over an year old now...so out of warranty...also...
