I used Spinwrite ver 1 for low level non destructive formatting in the old days when the hard disks were 40mb (mb not gb) and even running on a 40mb drive Spinwrite used to take about 5 hours. I wonder if it is any better now ?
@Dexter - any idea how long would it take Spinwrite 6 take to...
BOOTVIS has a strange quirk - if it completes the optimizing process in XP in less than about a minute or so then it does not make any major difference to the boot process - but at times for no apparent reason BOOTVIS will take upto 20 minutes for this same optimizing process and after this...
The MS Freeware Bootvis has an option to speed up boot process and it also has an option to show in a graph form the programs/drivers/dlls loading during the boot process and the time taken for each.
Keeping in mind problems as what you find yourself in I had setup my system accordingly.

If you format the C drive will the Boot.ini file not get deleted - is not the boot.ini file located in C root ? Can you get XP to start from D if the Boot.ini file gets deleted when formatting the C drive ?

I have 2 SATA drives and I have installed XP on both when each was the only drive attached to the computer as the C drive - so both the drives are marked as the active drive - now when I want to start XP on the second drive I go into BIOS and select the other drive as the drive to boot from...
I have 2 SATA HDD's and I have XP installed on both drives totally independant of each other. The way I did it was to install XP when each of these drives was the only HDD attached to the system as the C drive. This way XP installs itself as being the OS on a C drive on both drives - when I want...
Does any one know who stocks this Phillips DIVX player in Mumbai ? I phoned some of the Electronics dealers I know of and none of them had any idea about this model. The prize for the best reply was for Vijay Sales - they said that this was an old model now discontinued and now not available.
