open the avast from start menu programs list .... and click on the left most top button ( generally it is used to open a file ) ... then menu list appears ... in that select schedule Boot-Time scan ..... and then click schedule .... thats it ur job is done ... hope this solvs ur problem...

@sushma i dont think 1 GB ram is insufficient :) as u said that u can goto task manager and end the process ... now is the problem exists still ????? (i mean going becoming the computer screen blank)

zone alarm is mainly defined 4 the internet security .... whereas avast is mainly defined 4 the viruses..... so i will suggest u to go 4 the avast ..... iam using avast and enjoying... its the best antivirus i had ever used.... come on man install avast.... cheers :) :) :)
