1. What is the purpose of the computer?
Ans: Dedicated NAS

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then please mention.
Ans: upto 20k, lower the better

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: True NAS

5. How much hard drive / solid-state drive space is needed?
Ans: Not Required

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention the screen size and resolution you prefer. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, then do mention the screen size and resolution of the monitor you have.
Ans: No, Headless

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy? i.e. which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans:
Require Only
a) MotherBoard with at least 6 SATA Ports
b) CPU - Ultra Low TDP with max 4 cores
c) SMPS

Note: I have multiple DDR4 16GB sticks with me, so planning to reuse.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within a couple of weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before? Or, will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Bangalore

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans:
  • Don't requires any additional features such as WiFI, BT or any premium features,
  • Pref a Basic PC but with 4 DIMM Slots and 6 SATA Headers
  • Would be good if have NVME slots x2
  • I would be also using this with Proxmox, ICSI Protocol

Less scope of expansion, hardware side and Disk also,

Property Software,

Support for ICSI and NFS ( Synology also might supports

Prefer ZFS and RAM Cache, in Truenas

Higher Spd NIC support using PCI e cards (Synology also might supports, but higher cost).

Those are valid points, though the NAS enclosure consumes less power and you can keep it running 24 hours.
