Is there any open source Android TV in India?

I am very much interested to buy a Android TV which is open source so i can use it for developing applications based on my requirement.

There is no such thing as "open source android TV" because all TVs are manufactured by some company which puts their own version/restriction on TV app platform.

If this helps, you can develop your own apps, and run it on android TV via installing it through some file manager (like ES file explorer) as you would do in an android mobile.

I think he means an android TV box. Though, none are really open source unless you build one yourself using a Raspberry Pi.

Yes. If want to install your own application (apk file) , then that can be done easily ! Just Copy paste apk file with USB , run in a file manager and done! Its called sideloading btw.

Note the customizations / drivers installed by the tv manufacturor may not be open source. But we can install our own apk on many devices like mi box.

Unless source code is available publicly with a license allowing modification & redistribution as per user choice it is not open source.Original Android is open source but that is not what is used by device manufacturers,they use a "variant" of original source & the source code of that "variant" is not publicly available.
